Fondillón, the return of a unique wine

The mythical Fondillón achieved great renown throughout the world, under the name of Alicante wine, as demonstrated by numerous references by, among others, Shakespeare, Dumas, Azorín, Dostoyevski or Defoe. However, the phylloxera crisis at the end of the 19th century caused it to practically disappear from the market.

Bodegas Monóvar has the largest and most important Fondillón reserve in the world, both for the great variety of vintages and for the unequalled quality of the same, which have won the heart of one of the best oenologists in the world, Raúl Pérez from Bierzo, who, together with the winery's oenologists, has prepared the first Fondillón coupage of the 21st century.

This wine, whose memory is absolutely indelible and which can only be produced in Alicante, has such exquisite and delicate conditions that it can only be produced in a few specific years and in very small quantities. It is known throughout the world as Fondillón wine, and for these reasons the EU classifies it as a "luxury wine".

Knowing its production process, the possibility of tasting it directly from the centenary barrels and signing on its aged staves, is a unique and exciting experience that can only be done in our winery.
