Tilenus began with the philosophy of making single varietal wines with personality that were capable of transmitting the essence of the old vineyards of Bierzo. In order to achieve this, we worked with a group of winegrowers to establish quality limits while carrying out a slow and complex work of recovery in the vineyard.
Winery
The winery is located on an old dairy that has been restored combining the rock and slate of the Bierzo area with wood to be in line with the classic architecture of the area.
Each step of the preparation process has an assigned space in Bodegas Estefanía, with specific conditions of temperature, humidity and luminosity. An example of this is the barrel room, with nearly a thousand Bordeaux barrels made by the most prestigious firms.
The winery currently belongs to the MGWines Group, which also owns other wineries featured on our website such as Lavia and Sierra Salinas. The philosophy of this group is to save regions and grape varieties that in many cases are unknown to the general public, which is why the Tilenus plan fits in perfectly with its DNA. Currently, the head of the winery is Carlos García and the oenologist and technical director is Raúl Pérez, who is in charge of supervising the evolution of the wines and deciding the optimum moment of balance in them.
