Bodegas Amaren was born in honour of Ángeles, wife of Luis Cañas and mother of Juan Luis (Bodegas Luis Cañas, Rioja Alavesa).
In 1995, Juan Luis Cañas was thinking of making a different wine, a wine that would express the personality of the grape variety to the maximum. A 100% Tempranillo from several plots of old vines. At that moment, his mother Ángeles passed away and that is when he decided to dedicate his creation to her, his new perfume: Amaren Reserva Tempranillo 1995. This is where it all comes from, from the love for a mother, because Amaren in Basque means "from the mother". Ángeles was a fundamental pillar in the creation and development of Bodegas Luis Cañas and for this reason, her son has not stopped until he is able to pay tribute to her with his own winery in 2016.
Cement, stone and wood, that is the essence of Amaren.
