OUR HISTORY

Quinta Sardonia was founded in 1998 by a group of friends, with the common denominator of their passion for the world and culture of wine, and some of them linked to the chosen area, the Valladolid municipalities of Sardón de Duero and Villabáñez, and with the advice of the oenologists Peter Sisseck and Jérome Bougnaud. In line with the French "terroir" model (faithfulness to the soils and maximum respect for nature), 20 hectares of vineyards were planted. Both the winery and the vineyard are governed by the principles and rhythms of biodynamics, in order to favour biodiversity and the natural development of the vines.

Biodynamics is the most extreme of ecological and biological farming practices. The vineyard, located on the right bank of the Douro River, is the key to the whole project, it is pampered or left to suffer in extreme years.

QUINTA SARDONIA PHILOSOPHY

Quinta Sardonia is the expression of the minerality of the 15 different terroirs of limestone origin that make up our estate, through 7 varieties that bring complexity to the fragrance, texture and flavour of our native "Tinto Fino". Our viticulture is demanding and respects the principles of biodynamics to achieve the perfect balance and harmony between the terroir, the climate of the Douro, the vine and its natural environment, in order to reveal the personality and purity of our "Quinta Sardonia" wine.
