In the very heart of the Ribera del Duero (Roa), where, according to experts, the best vineyards of the Denomination of Origin are located, the Compañía Vinícola Solterra is a winery with 49 hectares of its own vineyards.
Its modern facilities were inaugurated in 2009 and completed in the following years. The project is part of a long-cherished dream, in which love for the land and passion for the world of wine have come together. And a brief tour of the winery's facilities is enough to realise that love and passion are the palpable signs of its identity. There is soul in every corner of this winery, apparently modest from the outside, but surprising, due to its size and harmony, when you enter through the stone arch that leads to the central square. The materials used for its construction are simple: brick, stone, iron, wood and glass, in such a harmonious combination that one feels pleasantly identified with the whole. The tour of the interior does not disappoint the expectations created, as there are many points where you can see both the vineyard and the internal installations, so that the mimicry to which we referred earlier is not an unfounded sensation. The details and good taste that ooze out are so many that the visitor is pleasantly surprised. The same is true of the modern facilities in which the wines are made, of which the barrel room and the cage room stand out, that is, the sancta sanctorum of a winery where the wines sleep and improve once they have been deposited in the wooden barrels and bottles, respectively. The simplicity and elegance of these spaces is remarkable. In short, and without fear of exaggeration, we would say that Solterra is one of the most beautiful wineries in Ribera del Duero, not so much for its grandeur or excessiveness, but for the simple elegance and balance it breathes everywhere.
With a production capacity of approx. 600,000 bottles.
