The story of a discovery, of sweating the earth, of chasing a dream...
More than a decade of effort and dedication
Bodegas Torralbenc was born from a challenge, to take up the heritage of others, to rebuild and recover it. To restore a traditional Menorcan estate and bring life back to an abandoned land, to give it back its essence.
We are driven by respect for the heritage and the environment, and the illusion of discovering and working an unknown land that we feel as our own.
In 2005 the Sidercom group bought the Torralbenc estate with the aim of developing an agritourism and winery project. The estate was in a state of abandonment, the fields were unworked and the buildings were in very poor condition, some of them in ruins.
The project got off to a strong start in 2011, when the rehabilitation project began. The agrotourism works were completed in 2013, and in the same year the hotel activity began.
The winery had to wait a little longer, but after several planting phases, it now has 14 hectares dedicated to grape production. In 2010, José Ramón Lissarrague joined the team as viticulture advisor. The application of his systems was crucial to guarantee the quality we were looking for in our wine.
Thus, in 2016, after more than a decade of hard work and a lot of enthusiasm and dedication, the Torralbenc winery produced its first wine, the first vintage of many to come. Today we are proud to be able to talk about Torralbenc wine, something that many did not believe possible, but which we knew would one day see the light of day as a result of our efforts.
