Influenced by the idea of the Tivoli Gardens, one of the major attractions in the centre of Copenhagen, Francis Ford Coppola created his winery.
"I have often felt that modern life tends to separate all ages too much. In the old days, children lived with their parents and grandparents, and the family unit was something very precious.
These are Francis Ford Coppola's words on why he set out to make his dream come true. He wanted to turn a winery into a park where the family could get together and enjoy life.
"So when we started developing the idea of this winery, we thought it should be like a resort, basically a wine wonderland, a pleasure park where people of all ages can enjoy the finer things in life - the food, the wine, the music, the dancing. A place with games, swimming and performances of all kinds. A place to celebrate and love life".
This is how he had conceived it, as a project from which to enjoy and give elements of enjoyment to those who come to visit. And, perhaps also, to remember his grandfather, who made wine in vats in a cellar in New York.
The vineyards are located on the Inglenook estate, in the Sonoma area of California's Napa Valley, and are managed by winemaker Corey Beck, who has more than 20 years of experience.
