The Beginnings
Pere Joan Rossell de la Costa is the first heir mentioned in the family documents; he was a winegrower and owner of the Can Rossell de la Costa farmhouse, near the parish church of Santa Margarida.
Once the phylloxera plague, which had ruined the vineyards of the Penedès, had been overcome, a new period of economic prosperity was generated which allowed the construction of the magnificent modernist style winery which was born in this year; it is still the winery where we make our wines and cavas.
In 1979, after several generations had vinified grapes from different varieties, we bottled the first bottles of sparkling wine christened with the initials O.R. which corresponded to Oriol Rossell i Almirall (1919 - 2011); he created the company ORIOL ROSSELL S.A. at the beginning of the 1980s, which still exists today.
