ORIGIN
From its first nine hectares, this project was born, a project that aspires to turn a dream into a benchmark winery in Ribera del Duero. The beginning of its trajectory goes back more than three decades, when Pago de Carraovejas was born as a response to José María Ruiz's aspiration to make a great wine in one of the areas with the greatest potential at the time.
When he was already fully involved in the world of catering since the opening in Segovia of his already prestigious Restaurante José María in 1982, he was still determined to set up a small bodega to be able to offer the best quality wines for his restaurant.
The location of these first nine hectares, chosen for being a great historical centre of Ribera del Duero wines and one of the most promising areas for wines in Spain due to its location, soils and climate, is the start of a project with more than thirty harvests already.
