Those who know Remelluri well often say that the origin of the farm is lost in the mists of time. A necropolis in the centre of the estate bears witness to this.
Erramelluri was founded by a count from Alava called Erramel. Thus begins the history of an enclave. In this place, surrounded by ancient vineyards, there is an old wine press, and also one of the oldest wine-making remains in La Rioja.
In the 14th century, the Hieronymite monks settled in these lands where they created a monastic farm dependent on the sanctuary of Toloño, on the summit of this mountain.
The farm's crops are located in such a way that they are protected from the wind and frost. In its surroundings there are still remains of prehistoric, Roman, Visigothic, Arab and medieval settlements, which speak of agricultural activity since ancient times.
